Sam Allen, With a 21lb Pilot Peak Lahontan Cutthroat Trout! 3/1/26 Guide: Sam Vasily

With the warmer than usual winter we’ve been having, Pyramid Lake has shifted straight into an early spring feeding mode — and it’s been impressive.

On these mild days, the midges have been thick, with the occasional callibaetis mayfly starting to show. When that happens, the lake really comes alive. March has produced some of the best fishing I’ve seen out here in years.

With water temperatures climbing into the 50-degree range, the trout’s feeding windows have widened, and we’re seeing consistent action throughout the day — not just short bursts. Both the quality and the numbers have been outstanding. When your “average” fish is pushing 30 inches, you know you’re fishing somewhere special.

Looking ahead, the weather pattern appears stable, and as we move closer to the pre-spawn period, fish are only getting more concentrated and aggressive. Whether we’re stripping flies in the waves or running indicators based on conditions, both techniques have been producing.

This is prime time at Pyramid — the window when anglers have a legitimate shot at the biggest trout of their lives.

I have dates available and would love to get you on the water for an unforgettable day

Let’s make it happen. 🎣
