We’re in a really good stretch of Fly Fishing right now with Pyramid lake fishing well post-spawn, Crowley is fishing very consistent, and the East Walker is providing some great River action to start the season. We have been able to stay on consistent fish by keeping things flexible and moving where the conditions are best.

If you’ve been waiting for things to turn on across the region, this is it.

Pyramid Lake

Pyramid has been solid post-spawn. Fish are moving through, and we’re getting chances at quality fish every day. Water temps are warming up and the fish are feeding great after a month of spawning.

The indicator bite has been the most consistent still but that will change as we move into late May. We’ve been fishing that 8–12 foot range depending on the day, running balanced leeches, midges, and baitfish patterns under the bobber. Keeping flies in the zone and making small adjustments has been the key.

The east side of the lake is starting to show more signs of bait showing up and the fish are keying in. Stripping has had its moments lately but will greatly improve as more bait moves in and the fish push into a feeding frenzy.

Biggest thing here has been staying mobile and not getting locked into one spot too long. Late May and June are shaping up to be awesome, I still have a few days open if you would like to experience this world class fishery at prime time!

Crowley Lake

Crowley is fishing like you want it to—steady and consistent.

We’ve been spending most of our time in the 18-25ft range, on the ledges & drop off's. The lake is full to the brim so the fish are holding in those areas and feeding throughout the day. Once you get on the right depth, it’s been pretty reliable.

Chironomids are still doing most of the work—#14–16 in reds, blacks, and some chromie variations. We’re also starting to see a little more bug activity, so

callibaetis and some lighter patterns are starting to come into play at times.

Standard indicator setup, good depth control, and staying on your anchor has been the program. Not complicated, just dialed in. We will be running trips here throughout the entire season. The consitency and quality make it hard to beat for the first time flyfisherman to the experienced angler.

East Walker River

The East Walker is coming around.

Flows and temps are starting to stabilize, and we’re seeing better consistency day to day. It’s still a bit of a timing game, but when things line up, the fish are there.

Nymphing has been the way to go—double nymph rigs with small mayfly patterns, midges, and the occasional worm or attractor mixed in. Fishing deeper buckets and slower seams has been the most productive.

There have been a few short dry fly windows, mostly early and late, but nothing you can count on all day yet.

It’s trending in the right direction.

Availability

I’ve still got a handful of open dates coming up, but things are starting to fill in as we get into June. If you’re looking to get out on Pyramid, spend a day on Crowley, or do a river trip on the East Walker, now’s a good time to get something on the calendar. Prime Pyramid season begins mid-may and I still have some days available.

Feel free to reach out through the website or send me a message directly and we’ll get something lined up.
